Wir haben ein Interview mit dem niederländischen Entwicklerteam Khaeon geführt und interessante Fakten über den bald erscheinenden Third-Person-Taktik-Shooter erhalten. Wir sprachen u.a. über die Story, besondere Features und über einen eventuellen Nachfolger!


Hi! First of all, would you please introduce yourself and your position in the development process of Alpha Black Zero to our readers?

Hi, my name is Esther Berger, I am Communication & PR Manager at Playlogic International.


Are there any things you can tell us about the story, yet?

In the science-fiction future of Alpha Black Zero, the player becomes Lieutenant Kyle Hardlaw, commander of a squad of elite soldiers. The Alpha Black Zero team is a specialized military unit used to resolve political conflicts on rebellious planets. They are trained to live in extreme conditions and are capable of dealing with the most horrific combat situations. Each team-member can hold different weapons with different uses, and the player can choose a squad configuration that best suits both the level and player`s style.
The player has to achieve a set of mission objectives by using the squad and available resources to solve the vast range of problems and situations he will encounter. What starts as a routine mission on a rebellious planet is quickly overshadowed by the appearance of an unexpected opponent. The player will have to use all the tactical insight and combat skills of Lieutenant Kyle Hardlaw and his Alpha Black Zero team to survive. The game-experience itself varies from high-paced combat to tense stealth missions, propelled by a compelling storyline.

In any way, were you inspired by other tactical shooters like Counter Strike or Rainbow Six?

The inspiration for ABZ came from watching Star Trek and other sci-fi themed shows and thinking to ourselves that with what is currently going on in the world, we don´t see how such an utopian future would come to pass. It will probably be a lot more like today´s world, only more deadly, more dirty and immeasurably more vast and dangerous. That was the starting concept at the time. Gameplay-wise we were influenced by games such as Hidden and Dangerous and to a certain extent, Operation Flashpoint - and there is of course the usual reference material like Aliens and Starship Troopers.

What kind of special features did you implant that may take Alpha Black Zero to a higher position in the charts?

ABZ has detailed graphics and a compelling storyline told in FMV. There are three views: third person mode which allows you to oversee the action and your surroundings best. An over-the-shoulder view which give you greater accuracy while aiming with side arms, provides you with a compass and the ability to "use" certain objects, and a view that gives various modes of first person zoom views (different per weapon).
